Scanner not working on your Mac?

Mac OS 10.15 (named Catalina) broke scanning on some HP printers and scanners. Catalina took MacOS from a 32-bit architecture to 64-bit.

When sending a scan job using HP Easy Scan in macOS Catalina, one of the following messages display on the computer or printer control panel:

  • Automatic Document Feeder is Empty
  • Scan Unsuccessful
  • Preparing to scan

To resolve this issue, update to the latest version of macOS Catalina and HP Easy Scan.
