HP Developers Portal celebrates first anniversary

In the history of the new HP Inc., 2016 will stand out as the year the company was created (splitting from Hewlett Packard Enterprise), shipped its first Jet Fusion 3D printers, and opened a Developer Portal to publish SDK, and manage APIs. The new portal will enable app developers to create solutions for HP hardware.

On Nov. 1, 2015, the Developer Program portal soft launched with half a dozen founding businesses: 3D Printing, Sprout, Mobile Print SDK, Link Technology, HP Labs and Print Fundamentals. In our first full year, our commitment to providing a single developer platform to serve all of HP’s businesses has be rewarded. We built it, and now HP businesses are coming. Most of our APIs are for internal teams and partners, but in 2017 we will be adding APIs that external developers can engage.

LAN > Web > API

Few transformations have been as fundamental as the API shift that began this year. Adding an open software platform to support HP hardware is a reinvention on par with the Internet and web printing. It's like opening the HP Garage and inviting the developers of the world to come in and check out the cool new tools.
