Mobile Scan SDK using WiFi Direct or Bluetooth

My tests with the Mobile Scan SDK have shown that I can only connect when the Mobile Scanner and my device are on the same WiFi network.

In our use case, there is no WiFi network available. Our (Android) devices have a 4G connection for Internet access, and need to interface with the scanner directly from our internal app.

Is there any option for using Bluetooth or WiFi Direct for this instead? The HP OfficeJet 250 we are using supports both of these methods, but the SDK doesn't seem to use this.

First, the easier answer.

First, the easier answer.   Bluetooth is not supported.

Now for the more involved answer.  WiFi direct is supported.  The discovery of the device is not supported in the SDK but if you connect directly to the device as if it were an access point the SDK will then work.

I'm having a problem finding

I'm having a problem finding my scanner in the list of network devices. I can't find it from the sdk or the hp cature app. But I can connect to it with wifi direct in the hp app but I'm not sure how the specifics work of using wifi direct to connect with the sdk.

I'm using the ScanJet Pro 3000 s3. I'm not sure what i need to do in order to make the device discorverable. I have the wifi accessory installed as well. Do I need to connect to the scanners wifi from my android device? I haven't been able to find the right password if that is the case.

Thanks for any help

You have to connect to the

You have to connect to the scanner using WiFi-Direct or using the scanner as a WiFi Endpoint.  Here’s the method on Samsung Galaxy, but it may vary on different devices.

Wi-Fi Direct is turned on upon enabling Wi-Fi.

1.       From a Home screen, tap Apps (located in the lower-right). These instructions apply to Standard mode only.

2.       Tap Settings.

3.       Tap Wi-Fi.

4.       Ensure the Wi-Fi switch (located in the upper-right) is turned on .

5.       Tap Wi-Fi Direct (located in the upper-right).

After turning on Wi-Fi direct and connecting to the printer you must connect using a PIN/Passcode.

Here is the way to generate a password on the scanner:

1)      The Wi-Fi Direct AP mode password displayed on the LCD is a random generated 10 alphanumeric characters.  It is generate by pressing “Cancel” first and then “Down Arrow”.

This passcode is used to establish the connection via WiFi-Direct with the scanner.

Please let me know if you need more information.

Mobile Scan with Wifi Direct

Hi,

I tried to connect the scanner (a Deskjet 3720) through wifi direct. But once the scanner is connected how can I create the Scanner object for scanning? It seems that the only way to obtain a Scanner object is through a ScannersBrowser which can't discover the scanner connected in wifi direct mode.

Thank you

Pass code

The password to use to connect is the serial number on the back of the scanner.  Be aware that it is case sensitive.

Estou usando o ScanJet Pro 3000 s3. Não tenho certeza do que preciso fazer para tornar o dispositivo discorável. Eu tenho o acessório wifi instalado também. Preciso me conectar aos scanners wifi do meu dispositivo android? Não consegui encontrar a senha correta, se for esse o caso.

Hi,

Hi,

Please refer the document link to connect to WiFi which has PIN/password to connect. (https://support.hp.com/in-en/document/c05293946)

With regards to the SDK, WiFi Direct will not help as the Scanner Object couldn't be obtained with the current SDK.  The device needs to be in local network (wifi/lan) to be discoverable.

Regards,

Varadha

Wireless connectivity

I am using the ScanJet Pro 3000 s3. I can't connect via bluetooth to integrate directly with my HP PRO X2 612 notebook.
Does integration exist? It would be interesting to know some information on this subject in an HP manual.

Is there also the possibility of integrating to a mobile phone?
I would like to use the ScanJet Pro 3000 s3 directly while listening to music, watching videos or doing something else.

I had problems with bluetooth

I had problems with bluetooth connectivity, this problem was caused due to my cell phone being bluetooth enabled, but the bug was fixed.

I followed a tutorial on YouTube to solve the problem.

thanks!!!
