Join a Tech Group

Different Tech Groups may have different ways or requirements to join or enroll.

Find a Tech Group to join

As described in Navigate the HP Developers portal, Tech Group product tiles are displayed on the My HP and APIs & Tools sections of the HP Developers portal home page. Each Tech Group tile represents a technology that a developer might be interested in. Click a tile to access the Tech Group's content.

My Apps Dashboard

My HP vs. APIs and SDKs

Log into the HP Developers portal to ensure you're seeing all the Tech Group products available to you.

The My HP section of the home page shows all the Tech Groups that the user already has membership in.

The APIs and SDKs section shows other Tech Groups that may be available for the user to join.

If you don't see a Tech Group product tile that you expect to see,

Join a Tech Group

When you click on a Tech Group's product tile, the information you see about the Tech Group may vary. Each Tech Group chooses what is or isn't visible to a) anonymous users browsing the portal without being logged in; b) portal users who are logged in but not a Tech Group member; c) Tech Group members; d) HP employees.

When clicking on a tile to explore a Tech Group, you might arrive at one of these options:

  • A home page visible non-members, with or without a Join or Enroll link or button
  • A home page visible to all portal users, members or not
  • A EULA (End User License Agreement)
  • A webform to gather information about users before they join the Tech Group
  • An enrollment page which explains the benefits of Tech Group membership and how to enroll.

Join links and buttons

In many cases, you'll find a "Join" link in the upper right toolbar, when visiting a Tech Group's content. If the Join link exists, use that to request membership in the Tech Group.

If a Join link is not visible in the toolbar, explore the Tech Group's content and look for a Join, Enroll, or Become a member link or button.

If none of these options appears to be available, the Tech Group may not be open for membership. On occasion, clicking on the Tech Group tile may result in an "Access Denied" error, which indicates that Tech Group content is not currently visible to non-members.

If you believe you need to be a member of a Tech Group that doesn't appear to be joinable, reach out to teammates, colleagues or your existing HP contacts to learn how to contact the Tech Group regarding membership.

A note about your email address in your portal profile

If your email is provided by an generic provider such as gmail.com or hotmail.com, you may need to update your email on the portal to use a company email provider (such as smarttech.com or progencycorp.com). Use an email address that reflects your professional identity. Some Tech Groups do not allow members to join with a generic email provider.

After Joining a Tech Group

The welcome process for new Tech Group members differs from Tech Group to Tech Group. You may be asked to agree to a EULA or complete a webform to share more about your reasons for joining the Tech Group.

Some Tech Groups may add you as a new member immediately. Other Tech Groups will need to review your request for membership.

In most cases you will receive email notifications regarding your Tech Group membership.

Tech Group admins are notified when new members join or request to join their Tech Group. Again, the process may vary between Tech Groups, but in most cases you can expect a response to a membership request within a few business days, if the Tech Group doesn't automatically enroll members.
